Shonakanda Baitullah Jami Masjid is a masjid located in the village of Shonakanda which is built on an island in southern Bangladesh. Over the last few decades this masjid has faced the difficulties of the harsh climate. The masjid was initially built with temporary materials such as tree trunks and a tin roof. However, after a short while, due to the harsh land erosion, the masjid had been destroyed several times.
In 2008, at the request of the community, our father, Hadhrat Mawlānā Sheikh Ashraf Ali Sikder (raḥimahullāh) donated the a piece of land and built the current structure of the Masjid. However, there was no foundation built due to the concern, the land erosion would continue. Al’hamdulillāh, it’s been 16 years and the land had stopped eroding.
Due to the lack of foundation, it has caused structural damages and we need to reconstruct the whole masjid.
