Our Donation Policy
Al-Madeenah Islamic Society operates under a 100% donation policy which means every penny of your donations is used for charitable projects. whether you donate online or in person, all donations go into ‘charity-only’ bank accounts from which nothing is removed. Our fundraising and administration costs are covered by gift aid and specific contributions for these operational running costs.
WHAT IS A 100% DONATION POLICY?
Muslims contribute to their faith by engaging in acts of charity, which align with Islam's belief in parting with their wealth with the less fortunate and promoting equality. However, many Muslims are unaware that a portion of their donated funds are allocated to cover administrative expenses incurred by nonprofit organisations when distributing aid.
To ensure our donations have the greatest impact, it is important to have a clear understanding of how your money is utilised. At Al-Madeenah Islamic Society, we have implemented a 100% Donation Policy, guaranteeing that all funds received from you are allocated exclusively to support individuals in need. By donating to to our charity, your contributions directly provide essential resources like food, water, healthcare, and more, maximising the utilisation of your donation.
HOW DO WE COVER OUR ADMINISTRATION COSTS?
Al-Madeenah Islamic Society, just like any other charity, incurs administrative expenses and operational costs, which are necessary for the smooth running of our organisation. These funds are utilised to support various aspects such as marketing and promotion, maintaining our our website, covering bills, accounting and legal expenses and fundraising costs. These expenses are covered by the funds raised through Gift Aid and are allocated to our dedicated "administration-only" account.
We also welcome any donations for the sole purpose of covering our costs. It's important to note that none of our trustees or volunteers receive any form of compensation or salary for their services.
WHAT IS GIFT AID?
Gift Aid is a tax relief scheme allowing UK charities to reclaim an extra 25% on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. If you pay Income or Capital Gains Tax in the UK you are eligible for the scheme.

Gift Aid will not cost you or us anything. It simply means that we can claim an additional 25p from the Government for every £1 you donate.
OUR ZAKAT POLICY
We regard Zakat with utmost sensitivity and consider it highly significant. Our commitment lies in collecting and distributing Zakat in strict adherence to Shari'ah principles, ensuring transparency, honesty, and ethical practices. We firmly believe that this is crucial for upholding our organisational values. To maintain this integrity, we take advice from our Shari'ah supervisory Board consisting of experienced Islamic scholars who provide their expertise and guidance.
It is important to emphasize that Zakat funds are spent within the same year and are not accumulated over time. This ensures timely and effective utilisation of your Zakat donations.
