Water Wells
Sa'd bin 'Ubadah said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what kind of charity is best?'
He said: "Providing drinking water." - Sunan Nasai
785 million people in the world – one in ten – do not have clean water close to home. Some of the poverty- stricken areas which are suffering the most in accessing safe and clean water are those in southern parts of Bangladesh, regions where we primarily operate.
The well draw water from up to 800 feet beneath the ground. A standard hand pump draws water 30 metres from the ground. Once built, the water well can provide water for around 300 people daily. It takes around 10-12 months to build a water well. This can be delayed due to adverse weather conditions.
